Estimates, not quotes
Home Costs by State shows price ranges built from public statistics (Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Energy Information Administration and national laboratories) and quantities computed from manufacturers' published figures. It is not a contractor, does not inspect homes and does not make offers. A price on this site creates no obligation for anyone, and the price of your project is the one written in a contractor's quote. Building codes, permits, safety rules and product instructions always take precedence over a quantity or an estimate shown here. The method and its limits are on the method page.
Liability
Figures are read from official releases and the calculators are tested before each release, yet errors cannot be ruled out and data age. The publisher is not liable for a decision made on an estimate alone. Please report any error through the contact page.
Intellectual property
Texts, design and code belong to the publisher; short quotations with a link back are welcome. Federal statistics used on the site are public domain works of the agencies that produced them; manufacturer figures remain theirs and are cited with their source.
Embedding
The roof cost and concrete calculators may be embedded for free with their credit link visible: see the embed page.
Personal data
The site sets no cookie and keeps nothing you type in the calculators. Details: privacy policy and cookies page.

Governing law
French law applies; failing an amicable settlement, the courts of France have jurisdiction. Updated: 2026-10-10.
Estimate only: the ranges on this page come from public surveys and wage statistics, not from a contractor who has seen your house. Roof pitch, access, rot under old shingles, permit fees, brand choices and the season all move a real quote. Get two or three written quotes before you sign.
